Equus Pencil sketch, image size 6" x 7" paper size 8 1/2" x 11". Signed by Arnold Friberg
Comment from original sketch recipient: Arnold was acclaimed by many as the best artist in the world in equine illustration and painting. His didn't just "paint" horses, he was an intense student of equine anatomy, movement, and as he called it, personality. He only gave me one sketch of a horse, this head which he did to show me how the hide of the horse is "merely" the overlay to the muscles and skeleton, the real torso underneath.

Comment from original sketch recipient: It is a study designed to reveal the character of the disciple Simon, who met the challenge of his family and friends who wished him to stay home and simply pursue his craft of fishing by turning with absolute commitment to following Jesus through thick and thin, whatever the consequences. |

Mounty Pencil sketch, image size 8 1/2" x 11" paper size 8 1/2" x 11". Signed by Arnold Friberg
Comment from original sketch recipient: Arnold gave this sketch to me one day while we were shuffling through papers in his studio. Again, we were talking about principled actions, and also about his journey as an artist and the joy he had working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He was justly proud of what he felt was his contribution to the iconic image of the Mounties, captured well in this sketch by a true master illustrator.
