In 1978,
Mr. Friberg was commissioned by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to paint a near-life
sized portrait of Prince Charles with the force's finest mount, "Centenial," a
great grandson of Man-O-War. This magnificent 7' x 8' painting hangs as the centerpiece
attraction in the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Center in Yellowknife, Northwest
Territories, Canada. Unreleased as a print. |

The regal
impact of the Prince Charles portrait led, in 1990, to a second invitation to London, this
time to Buckingham Palace. For six weeks, Mr. Friberg and his wife resided in the palace
completing preparatory sittings and studies made from direct life for this splendid
equestrian portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is shown on the great horse
"Centenial" riding in the Palace Garden at Buckingham. Unreleased as a print. |
