Rare—Artist Proof Limited Editions
An artist's proof (A.P. or AP)in modern printing practice is a reproduction of a work of art that is printed before the limited edition copies. It is
usually identical to the limited edition, but are not counted in the edition size. The number made is far less than the limited edition. They belong to
the artist, who may sell them or give them away. Artist’s proofs were once slightly better in appearance than the limited edition, because the
printing medium degraded slightly with each impression made. With modern reproduction technologies, this is no longer true. Some collectors
still prefer AP’s because of their rarity, and direct connection to the artist.
